How To Choose The Best Neck Knife

A neck knife is usually a small fixed blade knife worn around a neck stringing from the neck itself. It means a simple, thin, fixed-bladed knife that is carried around by a thread-stringed cord, through which the knife safely hangs from the neck, typically about one to two inches away. They may either hang open end or closed handle. The blade is held in a scissor-like groove in the handle of the knife near the index finger of the wearer. The blade may be made of rubber, plastic, or leather and may also include a thumb stud for safety.

One of the cons associated with neck knives is that they are difficult to use for some people because they are cumbersome and tight to carry. Some cannot use them on certain foods because they are hard to clean, while others are not strong enough. They have sharp points, which may cause some wounds if you are not careful. Some experts opine that these knives are good for specific situations but should be used with caution.

There are some pros and cons associated with carrying these neck knives. The pros are that they can be carried anywhere like a traditional pocket knife, and as long as it is properly sheathed, are easy to use and maintain. They also come with a compact folding blade that can be put away when you do not need it. The cons of a scissor clip would be that it would be hard for someone with arthritis to wear, as well as impossible for a child to put on if the child is too young to be able to put on the sheath properly.

Bead chain neck knives were designed for use with a safety cord to hold onto. This design is similar to many modern pagers, where the end of the cord is attached to the handle instead of the bottom of the sheath. The advantage of using a safety cord is that there is less chance of blood getting spattered around, or on the floor. The disadvantage is that you will not be able to open the sheath as easily, and it will take longer to deploy the beads compared to other models.

The fixed-bladed knife is perhaps the best overall compromise between all three options. These have no blades that hang off the sheath. The blades are held in place by a screw thread and a lip that fits into a hole in the sheath. The cons of a fixed-blade are that these can be difficult to carry around, may pose a choking hazard when the string is pulled too tight, and the fixed blades are much heavier than the other two options.

The third option is the Southern Grind, or sometimes referred to as a Cuban Claw. A large serrated blade protrudes from its sheath, much like the teeth on a steak knife, but there is no need to worry about dropping the sheath like with fixed blade knives. The major advantage of using a sheath is that it increases comfort. The disadvantage of the Southern Grind is that its large blade may prove quite dangerous should it accidentally cut someone. The advantage of the South Grind over the other options is that it is usually more comfortable to carry.

The last choice is the toggle type, which has a zipper located right at the hilt. It is designed to be worn under clothing. The advantages of the toggle are that it is easily accessible, can be worn in a backpack, and is comfortable and easy to wear. The disadvantages are that it is generally more expensive than the other neck knives, and is not the most appropriate for extended backpacking or travel.

As you can see, there are pros and cons of all three types of knives. The best neck knife final thoughts can be gained from considering your own needs and preferences. If you enjoy long-range hiking or backpacking, then you are likely going to need a blade that can get the job done. If you prefer a sheath to carry, then you probably don’t need the best neck knife around. Once you understand your own needs and preferences, then you will be better able to choose which one will best meet your needs.
